Barclays Premier League Week 6 Predictions

This is the week I improve my record! Okay, probably not but there's always hope and you don't want to miss out on when I have a winning record for the week. Despite my 3-7 record, I actually didn't do too bad last time. For example, technically this was considered a loss, but I guessed a 3-2 Man City victory over Arsenal and it ended up being 2-2. Once again my favorite pick of the week will be in bold red letters.

MONDAY 8:00 PM EST UPDATE

My season record will be reseting due to a format change. The record will now be based on my betting picks instead of my game predictions.

Week 6 Record: 5-3-2 (With 2 Exact Score Predictions!)
Season Record: 5-3-2
Bet of the Week Record: 0-0-1

Liverpool vs. Everton

Prediction: 1-2

Analysis: I've got to go for the upset in the latest Merseyside Derby. Both teams are coming off bad losses to teams they should've beat so no one has the momentum coming into this game. Yes, Liverpool is at home. Yes, Liverpool has been somewhat better than Everton this season. But Everton usually shows up in games where they're expecting a tough matchup. Watch for much better goalkeeping by the toffees in this game. Tim Howard will come up big this week.

Pick: Everton +1/2; -104

Final Outcome: 1-1. WIN.

Hull City vs. Manchester City

Prediction: 0-1

Analysis: After a tough loss to Stoke, a decent draw against Arsenal, and a nice draw against Chelsea (even though it was at the Etihad...if you're going to draw against any team at home it might as well be Chelsea), it looks like Man City is starting to get back on track. Hull isn't the easiest opponent in any sense but I feel like Man City will finally get to the championship form I was expecting. I'm still only going with a 1-0 win because Hull will put up a good fight with their nicely run 3-5-2.

Pick: Man City ML; -179

Final Outcome: 2-4. WIN.

Sunderland vs. Swansea City

Prediction: 0-2

Analysis: Two straight losses for Swansea is the beginning of them retuning back to what we were expecting. But Sunderland should still be an easy win. If Jozy Altidore starts for Sunderland I could see it being 2-1 or even 2-2, but with the front line problems Sunderland have I just can't see a goal coming from the black cats.

Pick: Swansea pk; -120

Final Outcome: 0-0. PUSH.

Crystal Palace vs. Leicester City

Prediction: 1-3

Analysis: Leicester is by far the strongest looking squad to be promoted to the Premier League this season. Draws against Everton and Arsenal and wins against Stoke and Manchester United make Leicester one of the better teams in the entire Premier League! Look for their winning ways to continue versus Crystal Palace this week. I don't think one of my relegation picks, the Eagles, stand a chance against a solidified Leicester team.

Pick: Leicester ML; +177. This was the runner-up for Bet of the Week.

Final Outcome: 2-0. LOSS.

Can't believe I put this here...but it's the Bet of the Week...
Chelsea vs. Aston Villa

Prediction: 4-1

Analysis: Aston Villa may be tied for 2nd on the table but didn't we see Swansea City near the top of the table when they played Chelsea? I'm finally going to give it to them, Chelsea looks like the heavy favorite to win the league this year. Someone needs to get a win at Stamford Bridge if the rest of the league wants to have a chance. But I can tell you this won't be the game it happens. Chelsea is on fire and Aston Villa isn't as good as the table is suggesting. Should be an easy win at home for Chelsea and in my opinion, three goals should be guaranteed to happen in this match. Easy Bet of the Week pick.

Bet of the Week: Over 3; +100

Final Outcome: 3-0. PUSH.

Manchester United vs. West Ham

Prediction: 2-1

Analysis: Oh Manchester United...what's happened to you. Doesn't look like we'll be seeing the glory days again any time soon. This was the toughest game for me to pick because Man U is just so bad but they still can win 4-0 at Old Trafford like they did against QPR. It's almost a complete guess going with a 2-1 Man U victory. I suppose I have to give them home field advantage because West Ham isn't very good either. If you have to bet on this game, go with West Ham I guess.

Pick: West Ham +1 1/2; -120 (I didn't even want to pick anything in this game)

Final Outcome: EXACT WIN.

Southampton vs. Queens Park Rangers

Prediction: 2-0

Analysis: Sigh...

I wanted to just leave that as my analysis but I have to write something. I can't predict QPR to stand a chance on the road against any team at this point. I'd like to see it this week but after losing 4-0 to two struggling "top" teams, this Southampton game may be even tougher. Southampton looks much better than any of us were expecting. QPR has got to attack against these teams to have a chance at winning. Four points a month is what is takes to stay up and you don't want to fall behind early.

Pick: Southampton ML; -233

Final Outcome: 2-1. WIN.

Arsenal vs. Tottenham

Prediction: 2-0

Analysis: This should be a great North London Derby. I'm excited for it to be the "primetime" game on Saturday. Tottenham has been struggling but you can also say Arsenal has as well. The difference is Arsenal still figures out a way to pick up points while Spurs haven't. An Arsenal win at the Emirates is what I'm guessing here and I bet Arsenal will score the two goals within five minutes of each other.

Pick: Arsenal ML; -130

Final Outcome: 1-1. LOSS.

West Brom vs. Burnley

Prediction: 0-0

Analysis: Most boring game of the week? I think so.... Burnley really doesn't know how to score apparently and West Brom can't do much better. Plus, like I said in my week 4 predictions, West Brom is REALLY bad and it was a huge surprise for me that they somehow pulled out a victory against Spurs (I know you're laughing right about now Lucio). The only game on Sunday, there's really no point to watch it. I know I'll just be watching NFL pre-game shows.

Pick: Under 2, 2 1/2; -113

Final Outcome: 4-0. LOSS.

Stoke City vs. Newcastle

Prediction: 1-0

Analysis: Probably runner-up for most boring game of the week. The only Monday game this time.... Like Mike said, I'm happy I'm busy anyway for this game cause it's pretty much pointless to watch this one too. Stoke should get the win at home though, especially with how terrible Newcastle has looked. Newcastle can't figure out how to win games without Loic Remy on their squad. Still, I think they will pick it up eventually...just not this week.

Pick: Stoke pk, -1/2; -127

Final Outcome: 1-0. EXACT WIN.

Table Prediction After Week 6:
"Tim Howard will come up big this week"

1) Chelsea - 16 points
2) Southampton - 13 points
3) Arsenal - 12 points
4) Swansea City - 12 points

10) Everton - 8 points
11) West Ham United - 7 points
12) Tottenham - 7 points
13) Hull City - 6 points
14) Liverpool - 6 points
15) West Bromwich Albion - 6 points
16) Crystal Palace - 5 points
17) Sunderland - 4 points
18) Burnley - 4 points
19) Queens Park Rangers - 4 points
20) Newcastle United - 3 points
